Proper control of blood pressure helps reduce the chances of complications such as heart attacks, strokes, and kidney damage. This medication works through two components—Olmesartan and Chlorthalidone—which lower blood pressure by different mechanisms. Olmesartan helps to relax and widen the blood vessels, making it easier for blood to flow, while Chlorthalidone, a diuretic, removes excess salt and water from the body through urine, contributing to blood pressure reduction.

You can take this tablet with or without food, but it’s important to take it at the same time every day to get consistent results. Your doctor will decide the right dose depending on your condition and how well you respond to the treatment. It is essential to keep taking the medication as prescribed, even if you feel well, because high blood pressure often presents no noticeable symptoms. Stopping the medication suddenly could increase the risk of serious health issues. Due to its diuretic effect, you may need to urinate more frequently, especially soon after taking it, so it’s best to avoid taking the tablet within four hours of bedtime.

The most commonly reported side effect is dizziness. Other possible side effects include nausea, fatigue, diarrhea, changes in taste, upset stomach, headache, weakness, increased uric acid or lipid levels in the blood, electrolyte imbalance, urinary tract infections, sore throat, and abnormal liver function. Although frequent urination is expected due to the action of Chlorthalidone, it should not be considered a side effect. Most side effects are mild and tend to resolve over time as your body adjusts to the medicine. However, if they persist or worsen, consult your doctor. In rare cases, dose adjustments or an alternative treatment may be necessary.

This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy, and you should inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to conceive. Drinking alcohol while on this medicine can amplify side effects such as dizziness or drowsiness.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If your next scheduled dose is near, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing routine. Do not take a double dose to compensate.
