By lowering the acid levels, it eases discomfort, relieves symptoms like heartburn or pain, and supports healing of the affected areas.

This medicine may also be recommended to prevent ulcers caused by certain pain-relieving drugs (NSAIDs). It is generally taken in the morning on an empty stomach, at least an hour before meals. Follow the exact dose and duration suggested by your doctor. Even if your symptoms improve, do not discontinue on your own until advised. For long-term use, your doctor may suggest regular monitoring of magnesium levels, as these may decrease with prolonged treatment.

Headache, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, and bloating are among the commonly observed side effects. These are usually mild, but inform your doctor if they persist. In some cases, the medicine may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision; avoid driving or operating machinery if these occur. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not usually recommended unless your doctor finds it necessary.
