Bactrim DS Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections affecting the urinary tract, respiratory tract, skin, ears, lungs, brain, and gastrointestinal system. It is also effective against toxoplasmosis and Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP), particularly in individuals with weakened immunity.
Unlike antiviral medicines, Bactrim DS Tablet does not work against viral infections such as colds or the flu.

This medicine combines Trimethoprim and Sulfamethoxazole, two powerful antibiotics that work synergistically to stop bacterial growth and eliminate infection. Together, they help relieve symptoms, control infection spread, and support faster recovery.

Mechanism of Action

Bactrim DS Tablet contains:

• Trimethoprim – Blocks the formation of tetrahydrofolic acid, a vital nutrient bacteria need for DNA synthesis.
