Abiways-M Tablet is a medication designed to manage and prevent respiratory conditions including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and allergic rhinitis, commonly known as hay fever. Asthma causes narrowing, swelling, and extra mucus in the airways, making it difficult to breathe. COPD includes lung diseases such as emphysema, which results in shortness of breath, and chronic bronchitis, which inflames the lining of the bronchial tubes. Allergic rhinitis causes inflammation in the nose due to allergens like pollen, dust, mold, or animal dander.
The tablet contains a combination of Acebrophylline and Montelukast. Acebrophylline is a bronchodilator that relaxes the muscles around the airways, widening them for improved airflow. It also has mucolytic and anti-inflammatory properties, helping dissolve thick mucus and reduce airway inflammation. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks chemicals released during allergic reactions, reducing inflammation, swelling, and narrowing of the airways. It is also effective in preventing exercise-induced bronchospasm.
The dosage and treatment duration are determined by your doctor based on the severity of your condition. The tablet can be taken with or without food and should be swallowed whole with water without crushing or chewing. Abiways-M Tablet is not meant for sudden asthma attacks; other medications may be required for emergencies.
Common side effects may include headache, sore throat or cough, vomiting, upset stomach, diarrhea, heartburn, runny nose, skin rash, itching, drowsiness, restlessness, abdominal discomfort, and nasal inflammation. Most side effects are temporary and generally subside over time. Persistent or severe reactions should be reported to your healthcare provider.
Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have any heart, liver, kidney, or lung conditions, neuropsychiatric disorders such as depression or seizures, hyperthyroidism, phenylketonuria, high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, or viral infections. It is important to consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other medications, whether prescribed or over-the-counter.
Abiways-M Tablet helps relieve symptoms of asthma, COPD, bronchitis, emphysema, and allergic rhinitis by relaxing airway muscles, reducing inflammation, and clearing mucus from the respiratory tract. It improves breathing comfort and prevents airway constriction, making it easier to perform daily activities.
Lifestyle and dietary adjustments can support treatment. Staying hydrated helps thin mucus, while potassium-rich foods like bananas, tomatoes, potatoes, and leafy greens may support lung function. Avoiding allergens such as pollen or dust, quitting smoking, maintaining hygiene, and practicing breathing exercises, meditation, and regular physical activity can enhance treatment effectiveness. Ginger, due to its anti-inflammatory properties, may help reduce airway irritation and swelling.
The medication should be stored out of reach of children in a cool, dry place. Overdosing can lead to adverse effects, including dizziness, nausea, or stomach discomfort, and medical attention should be sought immediately. The tablet is not habit-forming and belongs to the therapeutic class of respiratory stimulants.
Drug interactions are possible, particularly with medications like Rifapentine and Phenytoin, so it is important to consult a doctor regarding all ongoing treatments. Food interactions are minimal, but unknown interactions may exist, making medical guidance essential.
