Introduction
Acebran 100mg Capsule is prescribed for the treatment of respiratory conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and airway inflammation like bronchitis. The medicine contains acebrophylline, which belongs to a group of medicines known as anti-asthmatic agents.
Before starting this treatment, it is important to inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart conditions. Patients with seizure disorders, stomach ulcers, thyroid problems, viral infections, or high blood pressure should also take extra care and consult their physician. The capsule is generally not recommended for pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers should only use it if the doctor finds it necessary.
Uses
This medicine helps in managing asthma, COPD, and chronic bronchitis by improving airflow and easing breathing difficulties.
How it Works
Acebran 100mg Capsule acts by inhibiting certain chemicals in the airways that cause swelling and narrowing of the passages. By widening the airways and reducing inflammation, it allows easier passage of air. Additionally, it helps loosen and clear mucus build-up, making breathing more comfortable.
How to Take
Take the capsule as instructed by your doctor. Swallow it whole with water without chewing or crushing. The dose and duration depend on factors like age, weight, and the severity of your condition. Do not discontinue the medicine suddenly when symptoms improve, unless advised by your doctor.
Possible Side Effects
Some people may experience abdominal discomfort, heartburn, appetite loss, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, drowsiness, dizziness, or nasal irritation. If these effects become troublesome or persistent, seek medical advice.
Precautions
This medicine is contraindicated in patients allergic to acebrophylline or any of its ingredients. It should not be used in children under 18 years of age. Elderly patients should take it with caution. Those with severe liver or kidney disease, heart attack, irregular heartbeats, or heart failure should avoid it or use it only under close supervision. Caution is also required in cases of low blood pressure, seizure disorders, peptic ulcers, overactive thyroid, or viral infections.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
The medicine is not considered safe during pregnancy. For breastfeeding women, it should be used only if the benefits outweigh potential risks.
Driving and Machinery Use
Although it generally does not affect alertness, some individuals may feel dizzy or sleepy after taking it. In such cases, driving or operating machinery should be avoided.
Drug Interactions
Inform your doctor if you are taking medicines for gout (such as allopurinol), stomach acid problems (such as cimetidine), antibiotics like ciprofloxacin or erythromycin, corticosteroids such as prednisolone, calcium channel blockers like diltiazem or verapamil, diuretics such as furosemide, oral contraceptives, or other cardiac stimulants. These may interact with acebrophylline.
Overdose
Taking more than the prescribed amount may lead to nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, hyperactivity, seizures, rapid heartbeat, or restlessness. Immediate medical attention is required if an overdose is suspected.
