Claribid 250 Tablet is an antibiotic used to manage various bacterial infections, including those of the respiratory tract, ears, sinuses, throat, lungs, and skin. It is also effective against Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium linked to peptic ulcer disease, and can be used in individuals with weakened immune systems to treat infections such as Mycobacterium avium complex. This medicine works by stopping bacteria from producing proteins essential for their survival and growth, thereby controlling the infection and improving symptoms. It should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor, ideally at the same time every day. For best results, take it one hour before or two hours after a meal. Avoid consuming antacids within two hours of taking this tablet, as they may interfere with absorption. Do not stop the medication early, even if symptoms improve, as this may lead to incomplete treatment and recurrence of the infection. Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, indigestion, headache, altered taste, rash, difficulty sleeping, and temporary liver enzyme changes. These effects are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the treatment. Inform your doctor if they persist or worsen. Before starting this medicine, let your doctor know if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of liver, kidney, or heart conditions. Alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment, as it may increase the risk of side effects such as dizziness or drowsiness. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one—do not take a double dose. Always follow your doctor’s advice and complete the full course to ensure the infection is completely cleared and to reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance.
