Klarim 250 mg Tablet (pack of 10) is an antibiotic belonging to the macrolide class. It contains clarithromycin 250 mg and is used to treat various bacterial infections.

Uses / Indications

Respiratory tract infections (bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis)

Ear, nose, and throat infections (pharyngitis, tonsillitis)

Skin and soft tissue infections

Treatment of Helicobacter pylori infections (in combination with other drugs)

Sometimes used in prophylaxis or treatment of atypical mycobacterial infections in immunocompromised patients

Mechanism of Action
Clarithromycin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria and blocks translocation, preventing the bacteria from growing and reproducing.

Dosage & Administration

Take as prescribed by a physician.

Usually taken twice daily (i.e. every 12 hours) for most infections.

Can be taken with or without food, but should follow consistent timing.

Avoid antacid use within 2 hours of taking this medicine as they may interfere with absorption.

Complete the full course even if symptoms improve earlier, to prevent antibiotic resistance.

Elevated liver enzymes in some cases

Precautions & Contraindications

Do not use if allergic to clarithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics.

Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment — dose adjustment or monitoring may be required.

Avoid in cases of QT prolongation or known heart rhythm disorders.

May interact with many drugs (e.g., statins, certain antiarrhythmics, ergot derivatives) — always inform your doctor about all medications you take.

Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding only if clearly needed and under medical supervision.

Storage

Store below 25–30 °C in a cool, dry place.

Keep the tablets in their original packaging, away from moisture and light.

Keep out of reach of children.
