Lacosam 50 Tablet is an antiepileptic medication containing lacosamide as its active ingredient. It is used to control and prevent seizures, particularly focal (partial) seizures, in adults and children aged four years and older. Lacosamide works by stabilizing abnormal electrical activity in the brain, helping reduce the frequency and severity of seizures.
The tablet is usually taken orally twice daily, with or without food. The starting dose is often 50 mg twice a day, which may be gradually increased by your doctor depending on response and tolerance, with typical maintenance doses ranging up to 300 mg twice daily. It is important to take Lacosam regularly and not to stop the medication abruptly without medical advice, as this can increase seizure risk.
Common side effects include dizziness, headache, nausea, fatigue, and vomiting. Serious side effects are rare but may include mood changes, allergic reactions, or heart rhythm disturbances. Use Lacosam only under medical supervision, following the prescribed dosage and monitoring guidance.
