Lacrigel Ocular Lubricant 5 gm is an ophthalmic gel used to treat dry eyes by providing lubrication and moisture. Its active ingredient is Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), which acts as artificial tears by forming a transparent, moistening film on the cornea. This lubricating effect soothes irritation, redness, burning sensation, and discomfort caused by dryness. It is helpful for dryness resulting from prolonged use of computers, exposure to wind, sun, pollution, air conditioning, and certain medications. Additionally, it helps lubricate artificial eyes and moisten hard contact lenses.

Lacrigel provides long-lasting hydration, enhances tear film stability, reduces redness and itching, and improves comfort for contact lens wearers. It mimics natural tears to protect the eyes from injury and infections. It is recommended to use it as prescribed by a healthcare professional, avoiding contact with the dropper to prevent contamination. Temporary blurred vision may occur immediately after application, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. The ointment should be stored properly and discarded four weeks after opening to prevent infections.
