Lovax 300 Tablet contains oxcarbazepine which belongs to the group of medicines known as antiepileptics. It is mainly given to people dealing with seizures as it works on stabilizing abnormal electrical activity in the brain and helps in preventing sudden uncontrolled movements or fits.
This medicine is considered beneficial in managing partial as well as generalized seizures and is sometimes used alone or along with other similar drugs depending on the doctor’s advice. By calming nerve impulses, it brings better control and reduces the frequency of episodes, improving daily life quality for many individuals.
Like all strong medicines, it may cause certain unwanted effects. The most commonly noticed ones are dizziness, drowsiness, tiredness, headache, nausea, vomiting and trouble with balance. In some cases low sodium levels in the blood, mood changes, skin rashes or blurred vision can also appear. Medical attention is needed if severe reactions such as persistent rash, unusual bleeding or confusion show up.
The tablet is usually taken by mouth with water and can be consumed with or without food, ideally at the same time each day. Stopping it suddenly is not advised since that can trigger seizures to return strongly. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered unless it is nearly time for the next one.
Certain things are best avoided while on this medicine. Drinking alcohol can worsen drowsiness and dizziness, and operating heavy machinery or driving should be done only if you are alert. It is also important not to self-adjust the dose without consulting the doctor.
Precautions must be observed in people with liver or kidney troubles, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and in patients with a history of severe skin allergies. Regular monitoring of blood sodium levels and mood is often recommended. Informing the doctor about all other medicines being used, including contraceptives or herbal supplements, is essential to prevent harmful interactions.
