Maxogest Tablet contains a hormone that acts in a way similar to the body’s natural progesterone. It is often recommended to manage abnormal bleeding from the uterus, to trigger menstrual bleeding in women who are not getting their periods (amenorrhea), and as part of treatment for endometriosis.
The dose and duration are decided by your doctor depending on your health condition. It can be taken with or without meals, but it is best to take it around the same time every day. Continue using it for the full duration advised by your doctor and do not stop suddenly without medical guidance.
Some women may experience side effects such as headache, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, breast tenderness, hair loss, swelling, or vaginal infection. It can also sometimes cause spotting or irregular menstrual cycles. If these reactions become troublesome, it is important to discuss them with your doctor.
Before starting this medicine, make sure your doctor knows if you have ever had blood clot problems, heart disease, liver issues, or unusual bleeding. This medicine is not suitable during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and it should not be taken if you have or have had cancer related to hormones. Inform your doctor about any other medicines you are taking, as they may interact and affect its results.
Maxogest Tablet works as a synthetic form of the female hormone progesterone. It helps control irregular or heavy periods, supports women who are not producing enough of this hormone naturally, and reduces thickening of the womb lining when estrogen is used during menopause.
Alcohol should be avoided or used cautiously while on this medication. It is not considered safe during pregnancy, and it may pass into breast milk, so consult your doctor if you are nursing. People with severe liver problems should not use it, and those with kidney issues may need dose adjustments.
If you forget a dose, take it when you remember unless it is nearly time for the next one. In that case, skip the missed tablet and continue as directed. Do not take extra doses to make up for the missed one.
