Mesacol Enema 60 ml

Mesacol Enema is used in the treatment of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, conditions that cause inflammation in the lining of the large intestine and rectum. It contains Mesalamine, which works by reducing inflammation in the bowel, helping relieve symptoms such as diarrhea, bleeding, and abdominal pain.

This medicine is meant for rectal use only and should not be taken by mouth. It must be used under medical supervision. After administration, remain lying down for about 15 minutes to allow the medicine to act effectively. The duration and dosage depend on your condition and your doctor’s advice. Continue using it as prescribed, as stopping early may cause symptoms to return.

Common side effects include rectal discomfort, abdominal pain, flatulence, nausea, headache, rash, and diarrhea. These effects are usually mild and temporary. Consult your doctor if they persist or become bothersome.

Inform your doctor before use if you have kidney or liver problems, intestinal blockage, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Mesacol Enema should be used with caution in patients with impaired kidney or liver function.

How it works: Mesacol Enema is an aminosalicylate that acts directly at the site of inflammation in the colon and rectum. It suppresses the formation of chemical messengers (prostaglandins) responsible for intestinal inflammation, reducing ulceration, pain, and bleeding while promoting mucosal healing.

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it’s nearly time for the next one—do not double up.
