Rivaflo 20 Tablet is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) used to prevent and treat blood clots, thereby reducing the risk of stroke and heart attack. It prevents clot formation in the veins of the legs, lungs, brain, and heart by blocking a clotting factor called Factor Xa, allowing smooth blood flow throughout the body.
It is commonly prescribed for patients with irregular heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation) and to prevent clot formation after knee or hip replacement surgery. The tablet can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time every day. Continue taking it as advised by your doctor, as stopping suddenly can increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, or thrombosis. Lifestyle modifications such as quitting smoking, maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and managing weight can enhance its effectiveness.
The most common side effect is increased bleeding, such as easy bruising or nosebleeds. Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment and avoid in severe liver disease or active bleeding. It should not be taken with other anticoagulants unless prescribed. Dizziness or fainting may occur, so driving or operating heavy machinery should be avoided.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before use. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible, but skip it if it’s nearly time for the next one—do not double the dose.
