How This Medicine Works

How Should This Medicine Be Taken

For the best results, it’s important not to miss any doses and to follow the instructions provided by your doctor. Continue taking the medicine even if you start feeling better.

With or without food: It can be taken either way, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset.

Chewable tablets: Chew or crush the tablet well, or mix it with food before taking it. Do not swallow the tablet whole.

Extended-release tablets: These should be taken with food and swallowed whole without chewing, crushing, or breaking.

Tablets for suspension: Dissolve the tablet in 2 teaspoons (10 mL) of water before taking it. Do not chew or swallow whole.

Liquid form: If swallowing pills is difficult, a liquid version is available. Shake well before use. It can also be administered through feeding tubes after flushing them before and after use. The tablet may be crushed and mixed with milk, chocolate milk, or pudding if needed.
