Alfoo-D Tablet SR is a medicine given to men for the management of an enlarged prostate gland, a condition also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia. It helps reduce urinary difficulties such as poor flow, frequent urination, or the sudden urge to pass urine. This treatment does not work against prostate cancer but is focused on easing urinary problems linked to prostate enlargement.

The tablet should be swallowed whole with water immediately after the same meal each day. It must not be broken, crushed, or chewed. The dose is decided by the doctor according to individual needs. Even if you start feeling better, it is important not to miss your doses, since continuous use is necessary for maximum benefit. Noticeable improvement may take a few weeks, and in some cases longer, but treatment should be continued unless your doctor advises otherwise.

Some men may experience effects such as reduced sexual desire, difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection, tenderness of the breast area, or mild enlargement of the breasts. Dizziness and sleepiness can also occur, particularly when starting the medicine. These reactions are usually not dangerous, but if they persist or become bothersome, medical guidance should be sought.

This medicine is intended only for men and should not be used by women or children. Patients with low blood pressure, kidney or liver disease should inform their doctor before starting the course, as adjustments may be necessary. Because this tablet may interact with other medicines, it is important to provide your doctor with a list of everything else you are taking. In some cases, you may be asked to use protection during sexual activity and to undergo regular blood pressure monitoring. Alcohol consumption should be discussed with your healthcare provider, as it may enhance dizziness or drowsiness.

Alfoo-D Tablet SR contains two active ingredients, alfuzosin and dutasteride. Alfuzosin is an alpha-blocker that relaxes the muscles around the bladder outlet and prostate, making it easier to pass urine. Dutasteride works by lowering levels of a hormone that contributes to prostate growth, gradually reducing the gland’s size. Together, these actions help to relieve urinary symptoms and prevent complications such as complete blockage of urine flow.

The most frequently reported side effects include problems with erection, reduced sex drive, ejaculation difficulties, dizziness, headache, nausea, abdominal discomfort, respiratory infection, and breast changes in men. Most of these are mild and improve as the body adjusts, but persistent issues should be discussed with a doctor.

Driving or operating machinery should be avoided if the medicine makes you drowsy, light-headed, or affects vision. People with liver or kidney problems should use it cautiously and under close medical supervision. Severe liver disease is a situation where this medicine is generally not recommended.

If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as you remember. If your next scheduled dose is near, the missed dose should be skipped, and the regular dosing routine should be continued. Doubling up on tablets should be avoided.
