Bilazest M Tablet is a combination medication used to manage symptoms of allergic rhinitis, commonly known as hay fever. It helps relieve issues such as sneezing, nasal congestion or runny nose, itching, and watery eyes, offering significant relief from allergy-related discomfort and improving overall breathing quality. This medicine contains two active ingredients: bilastine, which is an antihistamine that blocks histamine activity responsible for allergic symptoms, and montelukast, which reduces inflammation in the airways by inhibiting leukotriene activity, a substance involved in allergic reactions and asthma.
For optimal effectiveness, the tablet should be taken exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. It is typically recommended to take the dose once daily on an empty stomach, at least one hour before or two hours after eating, as food may reduce absorption. Skipping doses or stopping the treatment without medical advice is not recommended. To enhance the effect of the treatment, it is advisable to avoid known allergens, maintain a clean living environment, and stay well-hydrated.
Common side effects associated with this medication include headache, fatigue, drowsiness, fever, sore throat, abdominal discomfort, cough, diarrhea, and upper respiratory tract infections. In some cases, ear infections (otitis media), sinus inflammation, or flu-like symptoms may also occur. These side effects are usually mild and temporary, but if they persist or cause concern, consult your doctor. Alcohol consumption should be avoided as it may increase drowsiness. Because the medicine can cause sleepiness or dizziness, avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel unwell after taking it.
Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this medication only after consulting a healthcare professional. Special caution is required in individuals with liver or kidney conditions, asthma, or a history of mental health issues, as dosage adjustments may be necessary based on their health status. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it’s close to the time of your next dose, skip the missed one and resume your usual schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.
