Bimat Eye Drop is a medication used to manage increased pressure in the eyes, commonly seen in conditions like glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Elevated eye pressure can damage the optic nerve and lead to vision loss or blindness if left untreated. This eye drop works by enhancing the natural flow of fluid from the inside of the eye to the bloodstream, effectively lowering intraocular pressure. Suitable for both adults and children, Bimat Eye Drop may be used on its own or alongside other treatments. It is important to follow your doctor’s instructions and use the drops regularly to maintain consistent pressure control. Discontinuing the medication without medical advice can lead to a rise in eye pressure and risk of vision impairment. Before first use, check that the seal on the bottle is intact. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before applying the drop and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. Common side effects include eye redness (conjunctival hyperemia) and itching. These effects are typically mild and go away on their own, but consult your doctor if they persist. After application, you may experience temporary blurred vision—avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision becomes clear. To use, tilt your head back slightly, pull down the lower eyelid, and apply a drop into the eye. Do not let the dropper touch any surface to avoid contamination. After use, apply gentle pressure to the corner of the eye to reduce absorption into the bloodstream. This medication belongs to the prostaglandin analogue class and works by increasing the drainage of aqueous humor, the natural fluid in the eye, thereby lowering intraocular pressure. There are no significant known interactions with alcohol, and it is generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, during breastfeeding, placing gentle pressure on the inner corner of the eye and wiping off excess liquid can help minimize absorption. While Bimat Eye Drop does not typically cause problems for the liver or kidneys, always consult your doctor if you have any pre-existing conditions. If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it’s nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and resume your regular schedule—do not apply extra drops to make up for a missed dose.
