Duratocin RTS Injection

Duratocin RTS Injection is prescribed for women who experience heavy bleeding after childbirth due to the uterus not contracting as it should. By helping the womb contract effectively, this medicine lowers the risk of postpartum hemorrhage and prevents related complications.

It is administered only by a doctor or nurse through an intravenous route and should never be self-injected. The medicine is given only after the baby is delivered. Before receiving this treatment, it is important to share your complete medical history with your doctor, especially if you have issues related to the heart, kidneys, liver, epilepsy, asthma, preeclampsia, or migraines. Women who are pregnant should not receive this medicine.

Some reactions may occur after taking this injection, such as nausea, stomach discomfort, itching, flushing, low blood pressure, headaches, or tremors. Additional symptoms like vomiting, chest pain, metallic taste, back pain, breathlessness, anemia, or chills may also appear in certain cases. Most of these effects are temporary, but if they become severe or bothersome, medical advice should be sought.

The way this medicine works is by acting on oxytocin receptors in the uterus. This promotes strong rhythmic contractions that support both childbirth and the prevention of excessive blood loss after delivery.

Special precautions must be observed. It is not recommended for women with serious liver or kidney disease, and caution is needed if other underlying conditions exist. Its use during breastfeeding is considered safe as it does not significantly pass into breast milk. The effect on driving ability is not fully known, so one should avoid driving if they feel unwell or dizzy after administration. Alcohol consumption should be discussed with a doctor before use.
