Elanza 2.5mg Tablet is an atypical antipsychotic medication primarily used to treat schizophrenia and manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder. It contains the active ingredient Olanzapine, which works by modulating the activity of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin in the brain, improving mood, thoughts, and behavior.

Uses

• Schizophrenia: Helps manage symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking.

• Bipolar Disorder (Manic Episodes): Stabilizes mood and reduces the frequency of manic episodes.

• Adjunctive Therapy for Depression: May be used alongside other antidepressants when they are insufficient on their own.

Dosage & Administration

• Typically, 2.5 mg once daily, as prescribed by a healthcare provider.

• Swallow the tablet whole with or without food.

• Take at the same time each day to maintain steady blood levels.

• If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered unless it is near the time for the next dose. Do not double doses.

Side Effects
Common: Sleepiness, weight gain, increased blood sugar and cholesterol levels, dizziness, dry mouth, uncontrolled muscle movements, chest pain, loss of libido, personality changes.
Serious: Increased risk of death in elderly with dementia-related psychosis, elevated blood sugar levels, potential increase in blood fats, especially in teenagers.

• Avoid alcohol while taking Elanza.
