Gemfrac Combipack Injection (3 Cartridges + 1) is a prescription medication used to manage osteoporosis in adults by promoting new bone formation. It is particularly useful for individuals who are at increased risk of spinal or hip fractures due to weakened bones. Osteoporosis often occurs with aging, after menopause, or as a result of long-term corticosteroid use.

This injection contains Teriparatide, a synthetic version of the naturally occurring parathyroid hormone, which plays a crucial role in regulating calcium balance in the body. By stimulating bone-forming cells (osteoblasts), Teriparatide enhances bone mineral density, increases bone mass, and reduces the likelihood of fractures. It not only strengthens bones but also helps to rebuild bone tissue, making it an effective treatment for severe osteoporosis.

The injection is administered subcutaneously—under the skin—typically in the abdomen or thigh. It should be given once daily, ideally at the same time each day. Injection sites should be rotated regularly to prevent irritation or hardening of the skin. This medication should always be administered under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

Most individuals tolerate Gemfrac Combipack Injection well. However, some may experience mild and temporary side effects such as nausea, joint discomfort, leg cramps, injection site swelling, dizziness, fatigue, digestive issues, or throat irritation. If any of these symptoms persist or worsen, medical consultation is advised.

Before starting treatment, patients should inform their doctor about any history of kidney stones, high calcium levels, or other metabolic or bone disorders. This medicine is not recommended for individuals with bone cancer, Paget’s disease, or those with unexplained elevations in alkaline phosphatase. It is also not suitable for use in children or adolescents under 18 years of age.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this medication only under medical supervision after weighing the potential benefits and risks. It is also important to inform your healthcare provider about all ongoing medications, as Gemfrac may interact with other drugs or interfere with certain lab test results.

In case of overdose, symptoms may include nausea, headache, dizziness, muscle weakness, constipation, or low energy levels. Immediate medical help should be sought in such cases. To reduce the risk of dizziness or fainting, patients should stand up slowly from lying or sitting positions.

Gemfrac Combipack Injection must be stored in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C. It should never be frozen. The medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be used beyond its expiration date.

For optimal results, patients should maintain a calcium- and vitamin D-rich diet, engage in regular weight-bearing exercises, and avoid excessive salt or alcohol intake. This comprehensive approach supports bone health and enhances the effectiveness of the treatment.

Gemfrac is not habit-forming and belongs to the therapeutic category of Bone Enhancers. Prolonged use beyond the recommended treatment duration should only be done under strict medical advice, as extended exposure to Teriparatide may carry a small risk of bone-related tumors.
