Olkem 20H Tablet is a combination medication used to effectively manage high blood pressure. By working in two complementary ways, it helps reduce the risk of severe cardiovascular complications such as heart attacks, strokes, and kidney issues that can arise from uncontrolled hypertension. This medicine contains Olmesartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels, and Hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic that helps eliminate excess salt and water from the body through urine. Together, they support better blood flow and reduce fluid buildup, helping to maintain optimal blood pressure levels.

Olkem 20H can be taken with or without meals, but it’s best to take it at the same time each day to maintain consistent levels in your body. Avoid taking it too close to bedtime, as the diuretic effect may increase urination and disturb sleep. Continue taking it regularly as advised by your doctor, even if you feel fine, since high blood pressure often has no obvious symptoms.

This tablet is typically prescribed when single-drug therapy does not adequately control blood pressure. The combination works more effectively by targeting different mechanisms. Olmesartan widens the blood vessels, easing blood flow, while Hydrochlorothiazide reduces fluid volume, helping to lower blood pressure. Consistent use significantly lowers the chances of serious health events such as strokes, heart attacks, or long-term kidney damage.

Most side effects are mild and tend to resolve as your body adjusts to the medication. However, consult your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen. Possible side effects include dizziness or lightheadedness, fatigue or general weakness, headache, swelling (edema), chest discomfort, back or joint pain, abdominal discomfort, upper respiratory symptoms, increased uric acid or triglyceride levels, changes in liver function or blood urea levels, and in rare cases, blood in urine. In very rare cases, the medication may affect eye pressure, and medical attention should be sought if vision changes occur.

This medicine may cause drowsiness or dizziness when taken with alcohol, so alcohol consumption should be limited. It is not recommended for use during pregnancy due to potential harm to the developing baby. If you are breastfeeding, use this medication only under medical supervision. This drug may impair alertness or vision, so avoid driving or operating machinery if affected. People with liver or kidney disorders should use this medicine with caution, and dose adjustments may be required. Regular monitoring may be needed to ensure safety and effectiveness.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
