Olkem 40 AM Tablet is a combination medicine used to effectively manage high blood pressure (hypertension). It contains two active ingredients that work together to relax blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood. This helps in lowering blood pressure and reduces the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and kidney-related issues. The tablet can be taken with or without food but should be taken at the same time every day to maintain consistent blood pressure control. Follow your doctor’s dosage instructions carefully. Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly, even if you feel fine, as this may increase the risk of complications. Olkem 40 AM combines two antihypertensive agents: Olmesartan Medoxomil (an angiotensin receptor blocker) helps relax blood vessels by blocking certain chemicals that tighten them, while Amlodipine (a calcium channel blocker) prevents calcium from entering blood vessel walls, allowing them to relax. Together, they help maintain steady blood pressure and reduce strain on the heart.

Most side effects are mild and temporary. However, consult your doctor if they persist or worsen. Common side effects include swelling in the ankles or feet, drowsiness or dizziness, headache, fatigue, flushing or warmth in the face and neck, changes in taste, indigestion or upset stomach, muscle cramps, palpitations, elevated triglyceride or uric acid levels, bronchitis, increased liver enzyme levels, and urinary tract infections. Avoid activities like driving or operating machinery if you feel dizzy or drowsy after taking this medicine.

Before starting this medication, inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney disorders, history of dehydration, or if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and kidney function may be recommended while on this treatment.

Avoid alcohol consumption, as it may increase side effects like dizziness. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. It may not be safe to use during breastfeeding; consult your doctor. It can impair your ability to concentrate or operate machinery, so caution is advised. In patients with liver or kidney impairment, use should be cautious and under medical supervision.

If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one. Do not take a double dose to make up for it.
