Pentanerv-NT Tablet is a combination medicine formulated to manage neuropathic pain, which results from nerve damage. It works by altering how pain signals are transmitted through the nervous system, ultimately reducing the sensation of pain.

Dosage and Administration

This tablet is taken orally, once daily, ideally at the same time each day to maintain steady levels in the body. It can be taken with or without food, preferably during the evening or bedtime. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If it’s nearly time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one. Do not take two doses at once. Complete the full prescribed course even if you start to feel better. Do not stop the medicine abruptly without consulting your doctor, as doing so could worsen your symptoms.

Common Side Effects

Some individuals may experience dizziness, drowsiness, constipation, dry mouth, tiredness, difficulty urinating, weight gain, and blurred vision.   It helps alleviate both physical discomfort and accompanying issues like disturbed sleep and emotional distress by reducing the transmission of pain signals in the nerves and brain.

Mechanism of Action

This medication combines two active components:

• Gabapentin, which interacts with calcium channels in nerve cells to reduce abnormal nerve activity, and

• Nortriptyline, a tricyclic antidepressant that increases levels of serotonin and noradrenaline to prevent pain signal transmission in the brain.
  Together, these agents offer effective relief from persistent nerve pain.

Precautions and Safety Advice

• Alcohol: Should be avoided, as it can amplify the sedative effects of the medication.

• Pregnancy: Use only if prescribed. There may be potential risks to the unborn child.
