Revofer 1000mg Injection
Introduction
Revofer 1000mg Injection contains Ferric Carboxymaltose, an injectable form of iron. It is used for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia in patients who cannot tolerate oral iron supplements or in those where oral therapy is not effective. By restoring healthy iron levels, it helps the body produce more red blood cells and improves oxygen supply throughout the body.
Benefits
• Corrects iron deficiency and improves hemoglobin levels
• Provides faster recovery from anemia compared to oral iron supplements
• Useful in patients with chronic kidney disease, inflammatory bowel disease, or other conditions causing iron loss
• Helps reduce fatigue, weakness, and dizziness associated with anemia
• Single high-dose injection may reduce the need for multiple smaller doses
Side Effects
• Common side effects include nausea, headache, dizziness, or pain at the injection site
• Some patients may experience low blood pressure, flushing, or mild fever after injection
• Rare but serious side effects include allergic reactions, chest pain, difficulty breathing, or severe hypotension
• Monitoring during and after administration is recommended to avoid adverse reactions
How to Use
• Administered only by a healthcare professional through intravenous (IV) injection or infusion
• Dosage depends on severity of anemia and patient’s body weight
• Usually given in a hospital or clinic setting under medical supervision
• Do not self-administer
What to Avoid
• Avoid taking other iron supplements at the same time unless prescribed
• Do not exceed the recommended dose to prevent iron overload
• Avoid alcohol consumption as it may worsen liver-related side effects
• Do not use if you have a known allergy to ferric carboxymaltose or other iron formulations
Precautions
• Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, high iron levels, or vitamin deficiencies before starting treatment
• Not recommended in patients with iron overload disorders such as hemochromatosis
