Sompraz 40 Tablet

Sompraz 40 Tablet is a medicine that helps in problems caused by high levels of acid in the stomach. Doctors commonly prescribe it for conditions such as acid reflux, peptic ulcers, and Zollinger–Ellison syndrome. By lowering stomach acid, it relieves burning sensations, stomach discomfort, and supports healing of damaged tissues in the digestive tract. It may also be given to reduce the risk of ulcers that sometimes develop from long-term use of painkillers like NSAIDs. This tablet is usually taken once a day on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning, at least one hour before food. It should be swallowed whole with water. Even if you feel better, continue the course as advised by your doctor. In cases where the medicine is used for long periods, the doctor may ask for blood tests from time to time to monitor magnesium levels, which can fall during prolonged treatment.

Some people may notice side effects while using this medicine. The common ones include nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, or gas. These are usually mild and go away on their own, but consult a doctor if they persist. Using the medicine for an extended period may slightly increase the risk of bone weakness or fractures. To get the best effect, avoid foods and drinks that worsen acidity, such as spicy or oily meals, caffeine, and alcohol.

This tablet is not suitable for everyone. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor if you have serious liver problems, if you are being treated for HIV, if you have reacted badly to similar medicines in the past, or if you suffer from osteoporosis. Alcohol itself does not interfere with the medicine, but drinking may increase acid production in the stomach. Occasionally, this tablet can cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision, so avoid driving or using machinery if that happens. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is generally avoided unless the doctor decides the benefits are greater than the risks.

The medicine is considered safe for people with kidney or liver disease when used under medical supervision, and dose adjustments are usually not required. However, extra care is advised in severe kidney problems.

If you happen to miss a dose, take it when you remember. If the next scheduled dose is near, skip the forgotten one and continue as usual. Never take two doses together to make up for a missed tablet.
