Introduction about TAXIM 1GM Injection

TAXIM 1GM Injection contains Cefotaxime, an antibiotic from the cephalosporin group. It is used to treat severe bacterial infections affecting the blood (septicemia, bacteremia), bones (osteomyelitis), heart valves (endocarditis), brain membranes (meningitis), lungs (pneumonia), abdominal lining (peritonitis), urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, and reproductive organs (including gonorrhea). It is also effective against Lyme disease and infections that may occur after surgery.

How TAXIM 1GM Injection Works

Cefotaxime works by blocking the production of peptidoglycan, a key component of bacterial cell walls. Without this protective layer, bacteria cannot survive or multiply, leading to their elimination.

Administration

This medicine is given by a doctor or nurse through intravenous (into a vein) or intramuscular (into a muscle) injection. The dosage depends on age, body weight, and severity of the infection.

Common Side Effects

• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or stomach discomfort

• Pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site

• Headache or dizziness

• Temporary changes in liver function

• Anemia or other changes in blood counts
