Xoclave -Duo Dry Syrup

Xoclave-Duo Dry Syrup is an antibiotic formulation commonly prescribed for children to treat bacterial infections affecting the ears, nose, throat, chest, lungs, urinary tract, teeth, skin, and soft tissues. It is also effective in tackling resistant forms of tuberculosis, where other antibiotics may fail. The medicine combines two active ingredients that work together to fight and eliminate bacteria.

How to give it to your child
The syrup can be given with or without food, but it is often better tolerated when taken after meals since this reduces stomach upset and improves absorption. The frequency of doses, usually two or three times daily, depends on the child’s age, body weight, type of infection, and severity of illness. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, wait until they settle down and then give the same dose again. If the next scheduled dose is near, skip the missed one and continue as advised by the doctor.

Possible side effects
Most children tolerate Xoclave-Duo Dry Syrup well. Sometimes, however, mild side effects may occur such as nausea, vomiting, loose motions, abdominal pain, skin rash, or fungal infections like oral thrush. These are usually temporary and improve without treatment. If symptoms persist, worsen, or cause discomfort, consult your child’s doctor.

Precautions before use
Before starting this medicine, share your child’s medical history with the doctor. Conditions like allergies, liver or kidney problems, heart conditions, blood disorders, birth defects, breathing difficulties, gut issues, or skin problems should be disclosed so the doctor can decide if dose adjustments are necessary.

How it works
This medicine contains amoxicillin, which targets bacteria by weakening their protective cell wall, and clavulanic acid, which prevents resistant bacteria from inactivating amoxicillin. Together, they make an effective combination for treating both common and resistant bacterial infections, including difficult cases of tuberculosis.

Safety information
Children with existing liver or kidney problems may need dose adjustments or close monitoring while on this treatment. Always consult your child’s doctor before giving this medicine if such conditions are present.

Missed dose
If you forget to give a dose, administer it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for the next dose. In that case, skip the missed one and continue with the regular dosing schedule. Do not give two doses at once.
