Zocef 1.5gm Injection

Introduction

Zocef 1.5gm Injection is an antibiotic from the cephalosporin group, used for the treatment of various bacterial infections. It is effective against infections of the lungs, urinary tract, skin, blood, bones, joints, and the brain’s protective layers (meningitis). It is also prescribed for gonorrhea and to prevent infections during surgical procedures.

Composition & Action

The injection contains Cefuroxime, a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It works by blocking the production of peptidoglycan, an essential component of bacterial cell walls. Without this protective covering, bacteria are unable to survive, leading to the clearance of infection.

Uses

Zocef 1.5gm Injection may be prescribed for:

  • Lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis)

  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

  • Skin and soft tissue infections (such as cellulitis and wound infections)

  • Septicemia (bloodstream infection)

  • Bacterial meningitis

  • Gonorrhea (uncomplicated or systemic forms)

  • Bone and joint infections (e.g., osteomyelitis, septic arthritis)

  • Prevention of post-surgical infections

  • Early management of Lyme disease in suitable patients

Benefits

  • Active against a wide range of bacteria

  • Useful in both treatment and surgical prophylaxis

  • Provides reliable coverage in serious systemic infections

  • Helps prevent complications by controlling bacterial spread

Directions for Use

  • Zocef 1.5gm Injection is administered by a doctor or healthcare professional only.

  • Self-administration is not advised.

  • Dosage and duration will be decided by the treating physician depending on the type and severity of infection.
